After playing around a bit with Necromancer and discussing with some other players, it's time to examine where Necromancers stand in the meta. Due to a few bugs and the fact that rebalancing is definitely going to happen, my opinions are not final. From a tank perspective, Necromancers are a very solid choice. I'd say they stand toe-to-toe with Wardens as a good off-tank option, though for different reasons. The main draw of a Necromancer tank is the potential for some really high ultimate generation, resulting in high Warhorn or Colossus uptimes. But they have some solid mitigation and a good self-heal. They do lack a little bit in the group utility department though.
From a DPS perspective, it's hard to judge where they stand due to a few bugs on the PTS, but I do not anticipate them being the best DPS for magicka or stamina right now. They are definitely competitive, especially with the Major Vulnerability from the Colossus ultimate, but they won't be the top DPS I think. Sustain on magicka was solid, but for stamina you'll need to play around with Summoner's Armor or Mortal Coil to sustain a full Light Attack rotation.
From a healer perspective, I got the opinions of two end-game healers, and they both anticipate Necromancer healers potentially usurping Sorcerer healers in the end-game environment since they can provide 2 unique synergies, just like the Templar. In terms of healing potential, they do lack a little bit compared to Templars and Wardens, but this may change in the future. In addition, they have the potential to provide a cheaper Purge with healing attached, and just like the tank, can get some high ulti gen for greater Warhorn uptime.
