Miracle Minute - Episode 41: Traits Of A Creative - Have Perseverance

Miracle Minute - Episode 41: Traits Of A Creative - Have Perseverance Creativity is very personal. As a Christian, you create for an audience of one - God. As you worship the Lord with your gifts, talents, and skills, you should have the joy of the Lord, peace that surpasses human understanding, and an awareness that you are bringing God good pleasure.

Your confidence will grow as you continue to bless the Lord with your creativity, and you will begin to see doors open because of your creativity. I believe that blessing the Lord with your creativity will make your life more abundant. Jesus promised, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Traits Of A Creative based on the life of King David:
1. Trust In Jesus Christ
2. Intimacy With God
3. Be Courageous
4. Be Disciplined
5. Have Perseverance
6. Be Thankful

In this video, I will be discussing Trait #5 - Have Perseverance.

"But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." (1Cor 15:10)

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. (Rom 5:3-4)

Trait #5 - Have Perseverance
- Complete a creative pursuit
- Avoid distractions - say "No" often
- Overcome obstacles
- Maintain focus
- Seek out accountability partners
- Ask God to keep you humble as you begin to and continue to create

I want to list a couple of Scriptural promises for each category.

(A) Complete a creative pursuit
"Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites in all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings and singing, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps." (Neh 12:27)
"He has made everything beautiful in its time." (Ecc 3:11)
"So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days. for they perceived that this work was done by our God." (Neh 6:15-16)
"So Solomon built the temple and finished it." (1Kin 6:14)
"I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do." (Jn 17:4)

(B) Avoid distractions - so "No" often
"But Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." (Lk 9:62)
"No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier." (2Tim 2:4)
"But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does." (Jm 1:25)
"let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith" (Heb 12:1-2)

(C) Overcome obstacles
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." (Gal 6:9)
"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith." (1Jn 5:4)
"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (Jm 4:4)
"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." (Mk 11:23)

(D) Maintain focus
"I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." (Phil 3:14)
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Heb 11:1)
"The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands shall also finish it. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you." (Zech 4:9)
"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." (Col 3:2)

(E) Seek Out Accountability Partners
"But in the multitude of counselors there is safety." (Prov 11:14)
"Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing." (1Thes 5:11)
"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." (Prov 17:17)

(F) Ask God to keep you humble as you continue to create
"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." (Jm 4:10)
"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself." (Phil 2:3)

Questions:
1. Do you lack perseverance?
2. Are you easily distracted from creating?
3. Have you grown weary in serving the Lord?

Challenge:
1. Confess to God that you will persevere.
2. Ask God to identify a stumbling block to confront.
3. Ask the Lord for strength to finish something you never finished.
4. When you do finish something creative, celebrate the victory.
