Thanks for watching my animated story.
Natalie is 10 years old and she earned a thousand dollars to buy an iPhone, but then decided to spend that money on charity. It actually happened to her. Some of you may say it was foolish, but she is sure she made the right choice. And this is how it all happened.
Every summer her parents drive her to the countryside where her grandmother lives. They work in a city, so they can’t visit her often, but her grandma is just the best! She bakes amazing cakes and watches her so she won’t get into trouble. She thinks Nataly is an energetic child.
One time Nataly was bored because there were no children her age in the village. Grandma was busy making the dough to bake some bread, so Nataly decided to go for a walk in the forest without asking permission. It was near her grandma's house and a place she’s not allowed to go, but it doesn’t count if nobody sees, right?
Well, she went to the forest, jumping and playing when suddenly she found a whole field of daisies! Can you imagine, there were tons of them! She couldn’t take her eyes off them, it was amazing! But there was no time for staring. She looked for the path and when she remembered where it was, she quickly made herself a wreath of daisies and hurried back home.
Near to her grandma’s house there was a road, so she wasn’t at all scared or surprised when she saw a car. The car stopped and a girl and a boy got out of it. While the guy was asking her for directions, the girl decided to try Nataly’s wreath on. The guy laughing, offered to buy it from her. She agreed and earned her first five dollars ever.
Shortly she returned to her grandma’s house and thought, “Why won’t I try earning money like that in order to buy an iPhone?” She had wanted an iPhone for a long time, but her parents thought she was too young for one and didn’t agree to purchase it for her. The next day she made three wreaths and went over to the road. Then she had her first disappointment. Nobody wanted a wreath for $5.00. So, she lowered the price to a dollar fifty and things got better. In an hour she’d run out of wreaths and hurried to hide her money under the mattress.
This was how she spent her days, helping her grandma with house chores in the morning and then hurrying to sell the wreath each afternoon . Of course, she didn’t tell her grandma what she was doing. Instead she told her she was going to the river. Each day she sold about 10 wreaths and spent 3-4 hours doing it, so she didn’t really get tired and had so much fun! At the end of the summer Nataly had $1000!
On her way home, to her hometown, she was exited as she waited for her big shopping trip. She didn’t know how to tell her parents that she earned so much money all by herself that summer. On the first day of school she noticed her classmate Matthew was absent, but she didn’t pay much attention to it. “Anything could have happened - he’s probably on a vacation with his parents,” she thought. But there were rumors about his absence. Then someone told her he was in the hospital. A week later their teacher come into the class and told them the bad news.
It turned out that while everybody was having fun in the summer, Matthew was lying in a hospital, fighting for his life. He had a serious heart disease and was dying. He was the same age with Nataly - only 10, and she thought it was just terrible. Matthew needed an emergency surgery that coasted about thirty thousand dollars and his family didn’t have enough money. Hearing this, the school determined to start a fundraising project to help him.
From that moment on Nataly started thinking about this situation a lot. Should she buy her dream smartphone or should she help her classmate who was in need. As she thought about this, she decided that it was life that was priceless. So she bought herself a simple phone for $100 and gave the rest of the money for Matthew’s surgery. She hoped her help, even though a small amount compared to the whole sum, would still be a great benefit to Matthew’s health.
Because no money and no phone are worth a human life, She waited impatiently for him to return to their class.
Fortunately, enough money was collected.
Matthew started to study hard and told her he wants to become a doctor in order to heal sick children. And she believes he will.
In conclusion, Nataly would like to say that we should help each other rather than just being cool and passing by. Maybe even the help you might give could save a child’s life who might grow up to become a great scientist or even an astronaut. You know what they say - the more you give, the more you get. So, let’s help each other and make this world a kinder place. And let’s all be happy!
