Rajiv Dixit on Defence: The Ministry Should have Someone with Experience in Defence

In this Rajiv Dixit lecture clip, he made a very valid point that there is no person with real experience of defence in the ministry, all are civilians. Whether it is Nirmala Sitharaman, Arun Jaitley, Manohar Parrikar of BJP government or AK Anthony of the previous one, all are civilians and there is simply no one in the Defence ministry who represents the defence personnel.

Since Lal Bahadur Shastri gave the cry of Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan, no government has shown interest in the welfare of our soldiers. Rajiv Dixit seems to be making a case for someone from the armed forces to have a say in the defence ministry.

Despite ex-army chief VK Singh winning by a thumping majority, the current BJP government has not appointed him as the defence minister, when there can be no doubt that he is the most suitable among elected MPs for the position.
