The STARTLING Fact About SIMULATION Theory - The World As A Computer Simulation With Rizwan Virk The Startling Fact About Simulation Theory - The World As A Computer Simulation With Rizwan Virk.

Welcome to Open Your Reality. This video is going to share with you the startling fact about simulation theory. Actually, I should say facts because we’re going to be exploring the most frequently asked questions about the simulation hypothesis.

Rizwan Virk's Book on Amazon:

Original Interview:

So whether you’re new to simulation theory, or have some background on it, the content you’re about to hear should prove entertaining and enlightening. It comes from a recent interview with Rizwan Virk.

Rizwan Virk is a computer scientist and video game designer, who released a new book in March of 2019 called, The Simulation Hypothesis. It explores the argument of Nick Bostrom, who is an Oxford scholar who first proposed the simulation argument back in 2003 in a paper he wrote. Virk goes into much greater detail and traces the path from today’s technology to what he calls the “Simulation Point,” the moment at which we could realistically build a Matrix-like simulation.

Before I continue, I need to inform you of two quick things. One is that this video will be more podcast style, and so the usual video clips may not be as detailed as they usually are. But the content is really awesome. Second, if you haven’t already subscribed and smashed the like button, what the heck are you waiting for. Come on now. Alright, let’s get into it.

Are we living in a computer simulation?
The question seems absurd. Yet there are a bunch of smart people in the world who are convinced that this is not only possible but likely. One of Bostrom’s possible arguments is that advanced civilizations will have the ability to create many simulations (perhaps millions), and that means there are far more simulated worlds than non-simulated ones.

This is just one reason why many scientists and intellectuals, Elon Musk to point one out, believe the chances of us living in a base reality are one in billions. From here on out I am going to pose a question and then tell you Rizwan Virk’s answer. The answers come from an article I read recently on the vox.com. I’ll put the link to the article in the description, as well as the link to Virk’s book, in the event you want to know more.

Question: Pretend I know absolutely nothing about the “simulation hypothesis.” What the heck is the simulation hypothesis?
Virk: The simulation hypothesis is the modern equivalent of an idea that’s been around for a while, and it is the idea that the physical world that we live in, including the Earth and the rest of the physical universe, is actually part of a computer simulation.
You can think of it like a high resolution or high-fidelity video game in which we are all characters.

Question: Are we living in a simulated universe right now?
Rizwan Virk
There are lots of mysteries in physics that are better explained by the simulation hypothesis than by what would be a material hypothesis.
The truth is that there’s much we simply don’t understand about our reality, and I think it’s more likely than not that we are in some kind of a simulated universe.

Now, it’s a much more sophisticated video game than the games we produce, just like today World of Warcraft and Fortnite are way more sophisticated than Pac-Man or Space Invaders. They took a couple of decades of figuring out how to model physical objects using 3D models and then how to render them with limited computing power, which eventually led to this spate of shared online video games.

I think there’s a very good chance we are, in fact, living in a simulation, though we can’t say that with 100 percent confidence. But there is plenty of evidence that points in that direction.
