I will be playing one every day and try to play the theoretical variation I am recording that day.

From now on I’ll be recording training games as often as I can. I have two measurable goals in my training weeks to come. Aside from working on the endgame, strategy, and a new repertoire, I have set a goal of reaching 2300 in lichess tactics and 2100 in lichess classical.

Today’s game was a really beautiful miniature in the Deutz Gambit! I play that opening occasionally, when I want to have an aggressive game and get my opponent out of prep. There are two solid and one bad way to accept the gambit. My opponent chose the latter. He took with the knight, which loses instantly if white knows what he’s doing. I had to remember my theory unfortunately, but eventually I played the best refutation and won in 11 moves!

The Deutz Gambit can lead to quick wins like this. Use it. I have made a detailed video on it:

Here is today’s game:

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. O-O Nf6 5. d4 Nxd4 6. Nxe5 O-O 7. Be3 Ne6 8. Bxe6 Bxe3 9. Bxf7+ Rxf7 10. Nxf7 Bxf2+ 11. Rxf2 Kxf7 1-0
