Everybody does it, but nobody talks about it — yep, we're talking about going to the bathroom. Toilet use is largely a taboo subject in our society, which is pretty crazy when you think it, but even still, people are less likely or willing to openly discuss their experiences on the porcelain throne. But did you know that you're most likely doing it wrong, and that could seriously endanger your health? Thankfully, we have just the solution to make your next visit not only safer, but much more pleasant.

Do you tend to up straight on the toilet, with you feet flat on the floor?
This is the unhealthiest positions you could ever assume when using the toilet, and you're doing it all wrong! Sitting on the toilet with your body at a 90° angle may be your go-to position, but it creates a kink in the upper rectum and puts too much strain on your body, which can cause serious problems in the long run. In worst case scenarios, this can result in constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, hemorrhoids, or even colon cancer.

To protect your body and make your trips faster, easier, and less painful, put your body at a 35° angle, or a natural squatting position, which is the best and healthiest way to get things done. This is actually the natural position for the human body and lends itself to an effortless bowel movement. The easiest way to achieve this position is to place a small step stool in front of the toilet, and rest your legs on top of it while using the bathroom.

Who would have ever guessed that a natural human process could be so dangerous?! Because it's something you can't avoid, and know you will be doing it for the rest of your life, it's important to make sure that your bathroom trips are as safe and enjoyable as possible.
