1. Seeing the person as good to the core!
2. Keeping a soft gaze.
3. Maintaining eye contact.
4. Accepting the person “As-Is” and as a fellow human.
5. A validation of who the person really is.
6. Not analyzing, judging, fixing, or problem solving.
7. Not giving feedback or opinions.
8. Not thinking of what to say next.
9. Not thinking of personal beliefs or issues.
10. Not “sucked into” or “swamped” by internal distress.
11. Not distracted by external events (phone ringing, other people, etc.).
12. Not distracted by the content of what’s being shared.
13. Not distracted by the space (chairs, pillows, doors, noises).
14. All available attention is on the Child Self.
15. Giving focused attention is an intense activity.
