OTIS w| U-Key?! | Old OTIS (mod. Express, then Schindler) @ CityLife Hotel, Wellington CBD Now this is certainly interesting. The door tracks are OTIS, but the door locks are U-key, which are usually found in Express. So I’m thinking, an old OTIS (from around the 40’s or 50’s), modernised by Express (who also replaced the doors), and then again by Schindler with Everbright. (I know it’s definitely OTIS that came and installed these first because I found an original OTIS service elevator as well.) I think the mod is quite cheap, but on the bright side they kept the pre-doors! It takes about 3 seconds after the doors open for the elevator to level with the floor — a minor tripping hazard but shouldn’t be too much of a problem. I really love the door motor sound! (If it’s even the door motor making the sound) The chimes on these have worn out and aren’t working — either that or these didn’t even have a chime.
