So you want to move to Mexico- should you move to Puerto Vallarta or San Miguel de Allende? Rather, should you move to a city on the coast in Mexico or a city in colonial Mexico? There is obviously much more to Mexico than the coast and central Mexico- but for the sake of this video that is where we will focus our attention. If you are looking to take a vacation to Mexico we believe that colonial Mexico is a better option. A few cities might include San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Puebla, Querétaro, Cholula, or Morelia, to name a few. Most "Americans" are not very familiar with the colonial side of Mexico and we think it would be extremely beneficial for gringos to see this side of Mexico.
If you are looking to move to Mexico- it really comes down to personal preference. For us, we have more fun outdoors and at the beach. We could sit at the beach for hours every day. We LOVE the plazas in central Mexico, but after about 30 minutes of people watching, we antsy.
However, the major benefit of living in central/colonial cities like San Miguel de Allende is the excellent weather. Towns like Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, and Puerto Escondido tend to get a little toasty!
We have lived in Querétaro and Puerto Vallarta and although Querétaro is much different from San Miguel de Allende- we believe the beach is the place for us!
