Hey Virus users! Do you struggle with making tracks using your synth sound as good in Mono as they do in Stereo? Are your stereo mixes sounding a little washy and flimsy?
Check this out and apply this trick to your next recording session, and achieve FULL stereo width AND mono compatibility, with NO extra plugins or complicated technical tricks!
Just press Edit on a patch, and use Parameters to scroll to the Unison 1/1 section, and expand the voice count from Off to Dual (or more), and then play with the Detune for character, and then swing the Pan Spread according to the settings in here, and record separate Mono and Stereo takes of your sound, and presto. Good to go.
Word of caution: with pads, it's advisable to only use Chorus/ Pad Enhancer FX on the Stereo recording of the sound, and to turn those off for the Mono take - having chorus and Pad Enh. enabled on the Mono take tends to make the sound phase with itself and disappear. Turning those off will remove the added stereo width from those sounds, and the Monaural oscillators will punch through nice and loud again.
- Only FX used were the built-in Reverb and Delay and Analog Boost, which were applied near the end of the video, to demonstrate the full sound of the pad.
