Protesters take to the streets of Barcelona on Monday, October 14, as Spain’s Supreme Court hands down the verdict in the case of the Catalan pro-Independence leaders on trial for their role in the 2017 bid for Catalonian independence.
Nine Catalan pro-Independence leaders were sentenced to between nine and 13 years in prison, and three other defendants were considered guilty only of disobedience and not sentenced to prison.
