A good way to train and remember the important things about medications is to recite the 6 rights. If you are a staff member within a care home, or at a workplace that requires you to be trained in first aid, it is a good idea to memorise and recite the 6 Rights on a regular basis, and to understand what they mean. When you do this, you'll be more effective at helping in any situation that requires medication administration, and you'll be aware of the risks involved.

If you manage a facility, like a care home, it’s a good idea to post the 6 rights somewhere within the care home, like in a staff break room, so that everyone has a chance to see them once or twice a day as a reminder.

The 6 rights are the following: Right client, Right route, Right drug, Right dose, Right time, Right documentation.
