In today's episode, we sit down with Congressman Richard Hudson to discuss how he plans on reforming medical malpractice for doctors and other healthcare professionals. Rep. Hudson's bill, the ACCESS Act of 2019, is the latest attempt in Congress to help fix a broken medical professional liability system. You can read the full text of the ACCESS Act of 2019 here:

Rep. Hudson is a Republican representing the 8th district in North Carolina. He is considered the 12 most conservative member of the House of Representatives.

Our interview with Rep. Hudson covers the following issues:

1. Helping to reduce meritless malpractice claims against physicians and other healthcare professionals.
2. How to address states' rights when pushing federal malpractice reform. (Similar legislation has run into roadblocks in the past because they never dealt with how to pass this and respect states' rights).
3. Limiting how much money a plaintiff attorney can make off of malpractice cases. Rep. Hudson that the patients deserve most of this money, not the lawyers.
4. How to move our healthcare system into more of a free market model.
5. Examples of a free market system in healthcare.
