How Diversity Enhances the Contributions of Developmental Science

How Diversity Enhances the Contributions of Developmental Science Experts discuss why diversity is important to developmental science.

This video is part of a larger SRCD project, "Hidden Figures" in Development Science (funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation) to increase the visibility of leading developmental scientists of color who have made critical research contributions and who paved the way, through mentoring and advocacy, for younger scholars of color. The project includes a series of four videos, featuring 12 scholars, with narratives of these leaders’ professional trajectories, the challenges they have faced along the way, and their perspective on how diversity enhances the contributions of developmental science.

“How Diversity Enhances the Contributions of Developmental Science” features:
• Dr. Yoonsun Choi, Professor of The School of Social Service Administration
• Dr. Margaret Beale Spencer, Marshall Field IV Professor of Urban Education & Life Course Human Development
• Dr. Cynthia García Coll, Adjunct Professor of Psychology and Charles Pitts Robinson and John Palmer Barstow Professor Emerita
• Dr. Diane Hughes, Professor of Applied Psychology

Pedagogical materials to accompany the videos will be made available late 2019 for early 2020 classroom use.
