Ambassador Shyam Saran needs no introduction in the domain of foreign policy formulation. As foreign secretary during the 2004-2006 period, Amb Shyam Saran played a leading role in the formulation of Indian foreign policy at a crucial juncture, while the India-USA civil nuclear deal was being negotiated. Post retirement he was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for concluding the Indo-US civil nuclear deal and later as Special Envoy and Chief Negotiator on Climate Change as well.
Given his vast experience of having working in the Indian Foreign Policy establishment for the past three decades, he is perhaps one of the most well versed minds to shed light on the India-USA partnership and its prospects for the 21st century. Moreover, his book "HOW INDIA SEES THE WORLD" is a must read for anyone aiming to develop a nuanced outlook on Indian foreign policy.
