MPs have returned to the House of Commons after Boris Johnson's landslide victory. The interim co-leader of the Lib Dems Sir Ed Davey, who takes up the position after predecessor Jo Swinson lost her seat, says Lib Dem MPs "want to make their voices heard" in Parliament, adding that under a proportional voting system his party would "easily" be the third largest in the Commons.
He acknowledges the last few days have been "difficult" after Ms Swinson lost her seat.
Sir Ed Davey says his party was backed by 3.5m people last week.
He notes, under a proportionally representative system, this would make them the third-largest party with 70 MPs, rather than the 11 they actually have.
Sir Ed says one issue Ms Swinson highlighted as even bigger than Brexit was climate change and the Lib Dems will continue to raise this issue in Parliament.
