January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

Ann Di Maio, MD, is a pediatrician, board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Child Protection. She has over 30 years of clinical experience and worked in both New York City and St Louis. Dr. Di Maio has lectured to physicians, nurses, medical students, medics, law enforcement and lawyers on the topics of abuse and trafficking. She has had appointments of Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Cornell School of Medicine as well as at St Louis University School of Medicine and has served as an expert witness testifying at trials involving physical and sexual of a child. While in St Louis she created and implemented a program to provide emergency and ongoing care to child sex trafficking victims and worked very closely with the St Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
