Facebook recently showcased Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s name as something inappropriate. According to Reuters, the company blamed the insult to a technical error with the translation feature. They said: This should not have happened and we are taking steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.” The issue came up because the Facebook system didn’t have Jinping’s nmae in its Burmese database. Facebook experienced similar translation issues with Burmese in the past, removing it temporarily in 2018.
