How to Build a Powerful Reputation

How to Build a Powerful Reputation A strong reputation increases your presence and exaggerates your strengths without spending much energy. On the other hand, a terrible reputation can do the exact opposite and becomes a hindrance to your success. This video will teach you how to build, fix, and protect the reputation that everyone holds in high regard.

First, work to start a reputation that you want to be known for. Your reputation could be generosity, honesty, charismatic, or influential. Let your status be known subtly, and it will spread like wildfire. Make your reputation simple and based on one sterling quality. Make it clear to yourself what reputation you want to build

4 Steps I have taken to build a lasting reputation

1. Make Others Look Good

So many times during interviews, pickups at bars, or business deals, people are throwing other people under the bus. The most significant way you can diminish your self-worth is by blaming or making somebody else look bad. Make sure always to make everyone around you look good. Show up early, be prepared, respect everyone's time, and talk up the fantastic people in your life (in or outside of the room.) The most excellent way to improve your reputation is to show that you respect yourself by being surrounded by amazing individuals.

2. Do More Than Expected

In my life, if something is asked of me, I will make sure to number one, do what I say, and two, do more than is required and expected of me if a person asks for a minute of my time, I will schedule a time block for an uninterrupted meeting. If I said I would follow up with someone within twenty-four hours, I follow up in twelve. If I had a great meeting with an investor, friend, or client, I would send a hand-written thank you letter. These small gestures and actions go a long way and will make you stand out.

3. Respect Your Appearance

Look the part of the person that you want people to view you as. The most overlooked and undervalued aspect of someone's reputation and status is the first impression. Always dress for the situation you are facing. Always remember it's better to be overdressed than underdressed. Make sure your clothing and attire are clean, unwrinkled, tailored, fitted, and modern. Have your body adequately groomed. If you wear makeup, make sure it is not distracting. Never lose your chance to impress someone because you do not look appropriate.

Now, if your goal is to have a reputation as someone edgy, fashion-forward, or a glamorous makeup artist than feel free to go for that, just remember, at all times, in all areas, you are a direct representation of the reputation that you are building.

4. Being A Part Of Your Community

If you want to build a lasting reputation, you will have to give back. Now, when I say the community that does not have to be your entire city. If that is the approach you are willing and wanting to take, then so be it. That will surely jumpstart your reputation in your local area. The term community that I am speaking about is your office, group of friends, clients, and in my case, you guys! Your engagement with these people will have everything to do with your values and goals. Being engaged means learning to know people, giving back your time, energy, resources, and being available to others.

The people in your life or community who show most of these traits are probably people you see as mentors or hold in high regard. These people tend not to have to sell themselves, or brag about their actions because EVERYONE IS DOING IT FOR THEM!
