TATA BSL Industries Trade Union demonstrated in front Dhenkanal Collector led by Er Debashisha Hota TATA BSL Industries Shramik Union demonstrated in front of Dhenkanal Collector’s Office against cheating of TATA Steel BSL and its Labour Contractors BARSHA and TSPL.
Dhenkanal (7/1) – Today, more than 2 hundred members of TATA BSL Industries Shramik Union took out a huge rally from its Dakhinakali office and then demonstrated in front of Dhenkanal Collector’s Office against cheating of TATA Steel BSL and its Labour Contractors BARSHA and TSPL. Er Debashisha Hota led the rally and demonstration. The agitators urged for arresting of the owners of BARSHA and TSPL. Also they demand for payment of their retrenchment compensation immediately. They declared to sit not caring for the heavy cold till fulfillment of their demands. This forced the Collector Sri Bhumesh Chandra Behera to come to them and assured to fulfill their demands within 15 days. Respecting this positive attitude of the collector, the agitators postponed their demonstration.
Here noteworthy that, the authorities of the industries and their labour contactors do not care the notices of the DLO Manabhanjan Pradhan. DLO does not take any strict action against those willful defaulters, rather close the cases and refer them to Bhubaneswar’s Industrial Tribunal. Poor labourers could not afford to fight his pending case at the far away tribunal by which the industries and their labour contactors got benefitted.
On last 31st July 2019, BASRHA Enterprisers retrenched nearly 3 hundred Poor labourers without giving proper notice to them. The labourers approached the TATA Steel BSL top officials number of times for payment of their retrenchment compensation. They did not listen to their pleadings. Hence, they compelled to inform Er Hota about this illegality on 4th October 2019. Within 5 days on 9th October 2019, Er Hota filed a case before the DLO alongwith all records. DLO notified the companies. On 15th Novemebr, TATA Steel BSL top officials Deepanjan Dey and MP Singh strongly assured before the DLO to pay the retrenchment compensation before 20th December 2019. But did not fulfill their assurance. Even they did not attend the case date. DLO did not take any action against these willful defaulters, rather tried to close this case and refer it to the Industrial Tribunal. Er Hota immediately informed about this to the collector.
Poor Labourers compelled to choose for agitation, the only way left for their immediate relief, since the collector supported the DLO. Here to say that, before 3 years, on last 6th May 2016, another Labour Contractor TSPL illegally retrenched more than 7 hundred poor labourers. On 12th July 2016, the then DLO Pradip Mohanty referred this matter to the Industrial Tribunal. The Labourers run for more than 2 years to the Tribunal, but could not achieve anything. Hence, they approached Er Hota during January 2019. When, Er Hota reached the Tribunal, he astonished to find no annexure of the case. He approached the secretariat after which the annexure are sent to the tribunal. After which the tribunal sent notice to the TATA Steel BSL and TSPL. Even after receiving the notice TATA Steel BSL did not turn up to the tribunal. Most interestingly, the notice sent to the TSPL returned back mentioning wrong address. How is it Possible ? Which officer verified the address before assigning it the Labour Contractor Licence ?
If the collector would not fulfill his assurance within 15 days, the agitation will be intensified after 22nd January 2020, Er Hota threatened on this occasion.
