Artists reflect on Recording Academy controversy at Clive Davis pre-Grammys party

Artists reflect on Recording Academy controversy at Clive Davis pre-Grammys party (26 Jan 2020) ARTISTS REFLECT ON RECORDING ACADEMY CONTROVERSY AT CLIVE DAVIS PRE-GRAMMYS PARTY

The annual Clive Davis pre-Grammy party is not without controversy for another year, as the storm over ousted Record Academy CEO Deborah Dugan's allegations were on the minds of artists at the event on Saturday (25 JANUARY 2020).

"America is one of the oldest institutions and racism and sexism run rampant through all institutions. Anything that is systematic is built on like a top and a lower level answer. It would be ridiculous if there was any institution including the Grammys that didn't have a hint of racism or sexism," said Chance the Rapper.

"It's been a long time coming. I'm glad it's finally arrived," added Sharon Osbourne.

Other artists didn't know enough about the controversy to speak.

"I'm all about making great music and hope to always be a part of this and hope that it gets cleaned up if it needs to be cleaned up," said "Despasito" artist Luis Fonsi.

Others paid homage to Diddy, who received the Industry Icon award for his contributions to the music industry.

Faith Evans, Nicole Scherzinger and Wyclef Jean were amongst the artists paying homage to the music mogul.
