Tinuviel is a baby Grey-Headed Flying-Fox who was found on the adjacent road and safely boxed by a member of public, left in the park for me to collect. I love people who give clear instructions on how to find the bat. Tinuviel measured out to be 9 weeks old. That's quite early to be flying independently a few kilometres away from the colony.
She seems to have scraped her wrists and her ear, and some membrane. It looks like it might have been from a crash landing.
I don't know how she's going to go but I have hopes the injuries won't be too serious.
Tinuviel is an elf in one of Tolkien's books on the history of Middle-earth.
It means Daughter of Starry Twilight. In view of me rescuing her late in the night, I think the name is apt.
Let's hope we get Tinuviel back out there into the starry twilight in the next month or two.
