An Idea behind Cartoon | Satish Acharya | TEDxMITE Satish Acharya is an Indian cartoonist hailing from Kundapura, Karnataka. Mr. Acharya, a self-taught cartoonist, moved to Mumbai and started in an advertising agency as an account executive after obtaining an MBA in finance from Mangalore University. He laid foundations to a fruitful career as a political cartoonist with Mumbai-based English tabloid Midday where he continued to contribute to its daily cartoon column for nine years. His cartoon on the Charlie Hebdo Massacre was regarded as one of the most powerful cartoons on the tragedy by the foreign media and it was published in international newspapers including The Wall Street Journal, The Times and The Guardian. Mr. Acharya has written three cartoon books, 'Mein', 'Hum', 'Aap' in English, 'Cartoonishta' in Kannada, 'Negipuggi' in Kundapura Kannada and a cricket-cartoon book 'Non-Striker'. In 2015, he was featured as one among 24 thinkers by Forbes India as the best India-based intellectuals who are well regarded outside India.
