A WORD FROM CHRIS
I have a lot of respect for the John Wick series. It's stylistic, slick, full of life and damn well made. So when my close friend, Jeff Odachowski made mention to me that he wanted to do a John Wick short, I pretty much told him it was impossible, then like a few days later, sent him a script. I clearly spoke too soon.
One of the main ideas I wanted to drive home with this short was the supernatural element that has been implied in the John Wick films. The idea that he is feared and revered is just great, and makes for awesome speculation. And since every action movie ever has allowed for the hero to survive insane stunts that kill a regular person, I wanted to flat out address that, and try to make sense of it.
The film was shot in two days. Day one was the entire dinner sequence with Death, and day two being the actual fight. For obvious reasons, this seemed like the most practical way to film.
Aaron Toft was the main fight choreographer on the project. Together with the help of myself, Jeff Odachowski, Tim Banks and Dwight Taylor, we all came up with a pretty fun, kinetic fight sequence.
