Today, we’re going to talk about the toxic effects of nutrients if you take too much.
Try to get most of your vitamins and nutrients from food, or take supplements that are food-based. Having the right amount of vitamins and nutrients are, of course, a great thing. However, having too much can cause toxic side effects.
High amounts of synthetic vitamins can especially cause vitamin toxicity, which is damaging to the body. Having high amounts of trace minerals can also trigger toxicity symptoms.
Toxic effects that could occur from taking too much of these nutrients:
• Vitamin A - vision, bone pain, cancer, skin irritation
• Vitamin E - bleed easily, fatigue, weakness
• Vitamin D - hypercalcemia
• Vitamin C - diarrhea
• Iron - accumulates the liver and brain, constipation, hemochromatosis
• Iodine - low selenium enzymes, hyperthyroid
• Magnesium - diarrhea, low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat
• Selenium - alopecia, dermatitis
• Zinc - low copper absorption, fever, gastritis
