'Scars to Your Beautiful' - Newcastle Public School #CBCMusicClass

We are the Newcastle Public School Choir based out of Newcastle, Ontario and made up of 60 students ranging from 8-12 years old. Our school is a K-6 elementary school of 750 and many of us love to sing. In 2016, our entire school performed “Ahead by A Century” as a tribute to Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip prior to their final tour, and it went viral. It was featured on TV and radio across Canada, Macleans.ca, WashingtonPost.com, and CBC’s Top Ten Tragically Hip covers. We arranged the Trew’s “Highway of Heroes” to commemorate our school’s efforts with the Highway of Heroes project in 2017. Our choir has also put their own stamp on songs by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Sloan, Janelle Monae, The Cranberries, Ruth B., Tom Petty, Goldfrapp and Imagine Dragons. We are proud to share our arrangement of Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful”.
