9. The Gift Of “Sight”
Franco Magnani was born in 1934 in the Tuscan hillside town of Pontito, Italy. After spending part of his childhood there, his family moved. Magnani immigrated to San Francisco during the 1960s and alternated between jobs as a cook and a woodworker. At some point, he came down with a severe fever, which was accompanied by seizures and delirium.

As impossible as it sounds, Jason Padgett literally became a genius overnight. He didn’t enjoy learning. He thought math was stupid and had to repeat his senior year of high school in order to graduate. Michelle Myers is one of just 100 people who have been diagnosed with an extremely rare condition called Foreign Accent Syndrome since 1907.
6. Magically Musical
In DC Comics, the character known as Barry Allen was struck by lightning that transformed him into the fastest man alive, but for Tony Cicoria, he had a slightly different reaction when he got hit from out of the blue. One gloomy afternoon in 1994, Tony Cicoria was making a call on an outdoor payphone. Right after he hung up, Tony was struck by lightning.

Orlando Serrell was a typical 10-year-old boy who enjoyed sports. That all changed during a baseball game on August 19, 1979, when the ball slammed into the left side of Serrell’s head with such force, he fell to the ground. He got back up shortly after and continued playing baseball.

Massachusetts resident and chiropractor Jon Sarkin experienced a multitude of health issues during his mid-30s, starting in 1989, including an internal ringing of the ears called tinnitus, which was caused by an overgrown blood vessel pushing against his acoustic nerve. He then also had a severe stroke which is very strange for someone in their 30’s.

A British man Tommy McHugh spent most of his life engaging in petty crime, being arrested, and working as a builder in Liverpool. In 2001, at age 51 and after emerging from countless scraps unscathed, McHugh had a stroke on the toilet as a result of forcefully trying to relieve himself. Yikes! That is not how you want to go!! Make sure you are getting enough fiber people!!
2. Seeing Beyond Blindness
Ben Underwood was just a toddler when doctors diagnosed him with retinal cancer in both eyes. The following year, his eyes were removed. His mother, Aquanetta, refused to give up on him, and Ben refused to give up on himself. He spent his childhood acquiring a skill that virtually no humans gain throughout their entire lifetime: echolocation.
1. A “Stroke” Of Luck
In 1986, a forklift pinned Ken Walters against a wall and broke his back. The then-30-year-old engineer was bedridden for a year and suffered from excruciating pain. To make matters worse, he lost his housing benefit. Walters plunged into emotional and financial ruin, and his health problems worsened.
