Sermon Notes
1. INTRODUCTION
- Find the 'Knowing God' series of sermons here -
- When we study out the different qualities and attributes of God, the study is only useful to us when we identify personally how God works His attributes into our lives. What does God's wisdom have to do with us? How do we benefit from His wisdom?

2. GOD IS WISE
- There is nothing that can be understood that God doesn't understand. There is nothing to be known that God does not know. He understands and knows everything. He understands us more than we can understand ourselves. We think we know ourselves very well, but we don't know ourselves fully and completely. We're completely changing. Our hearts are deceitful; we don't even understand our own hearts very well. This is why we need to trust God (more).
- And we know this intellectually. We know that God is wiser than us, yet it's not very easy for us to live this out (in our decision making, and with own feelings). If we know that God is wise(r), then we should continually go to Him and trust him and follow what the Bible says. Though this sounds simple enough, the reality is that it's not easy for us because we innately have the perception that we are wiser than we really are.
- We grow up, and soon realize that our parents do know it all. Neither do we, but we think we know it all. We start trusting our own wisdom. Thus, it is difficult for us to learn to trust God completely.
- Job 12, vs 13. How much wisdom does God possess? All of it. This was a time when Job needed some answers. He was suffering. But at least He was wise enough to know that His redeemer lived and to trust Him.
- Jeremiah 10, vs 12. "But God made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding." Everything that is seen is made by God with power and wisdom. God has ordered everything in the universe. So why do we struggle with believing that God can order everything in our lives, despite the chaos?
It's because we're not used to trusting someone else this much.
- Psalm 19, vs 7. "The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple." Wouldn't it be great if we had someone in our lives who knew everything, who can't make mistakes, and everything that comes out of their mouth is perfect? How often would we go to that person for advice? We DO have that person in our lives. Why then do we seek Him for last?
- Isiah 55, vs 8-9. God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours.
