Some more in-depth info on how this was made…
First I hunted and pecked on Fiverr looking for producers that were good at certain things, maybe drum programming, or live instruments, 808’s, whatever I could find. I used the “Country” filter so sort and try to find people all over the world.
Then, I asked them to write and send me a part (or a few parts) in the key of A flat minor at 160bpm on that instrument. All of the stems and music used are from these producers, but I did the arrangement on my end to bring it all together. None of the producers will know what the song sounds like until they hear this :)
Once I had each beat segment down, it was back to Fiverr to find rappers/singers. Each received only their verse beats, so they had no idea what the rest of the song sounded like or what artists were on it. The only requirements I had for the Artists were to perform their verses in English, to not use any hate/anti-Semitic speech, and to send me a video of them performing it where they show off their country.
I did my best to find contributors from as many different countries as possible, from the other side of the world… Places with different cultures and histories from the US. I wanted the project to be very diverse and flavorful! I wish I could have had someone from every country in the world, but Fiverr has limited producers and musicians in certain countries and many more in others.
You’ll notice the $ tally in the top right as the video progresses. This includes Fiverr fees I paid (just an FYI). The tally is not mirroring all of the musical elements as they move in and out of the piece… That would have been way too complex to communicate in the video. Instead, I just added what I paid every time I visually feature each contributor.
HUGE shoutout to my god friend Androu (@NotAndrou on IG) for helping with the video edit! Many of the video clips came to me “as is” from the collaborators but he helped me stitch them together into a single video (and as you can see, he charges a handsome rate)
