In US news and current events today, meet Rebecca Pauline Jampol and Jasmine Wahi, the artists behind the 'Abortion Is Normal' art exhibit that recently opened in New York City.
Rebecca Pauline Jampol and Jasmine Wahi curated the two-part
exhibition in NYC in January 2020.
The event brings together the voices of more than 60 artists & practitioners to normalize conversations and rid ‘fear, shame, and stigma' surrounding abortion.
18 states introduced 58 new restrictions on abortion in 2019. Wahi says through imagery, she hopes to amplify the voices of women who are fighting for pro-choice legislation nationwide.
Proceeds from the exhibits will benefit funds advocating for reproductive health.
‘Our bodies are not up for consideration. Nobody should be making rules over your body, except for you.' — Abortion Is Normal creators.
