The Spring 2020 series of The City Talks on the theme of "Changing Memoryscapes in the City" marks the 10th year anniversary of The City Talks lecture series, which began in 2010 when a group of urban scholars at the University of Victoria established the UVic Committee for Urban Studies.
On January 23, 2020, journalist Emma Renaerts joined the City Talks to lecture on "Monumental Changes: Finding Meaning in Monuments and the Surrounding Controversies." Emma's talk delves into the removal of the Sir John A. Macdonald statue in Victoria: it’s origins, aftermath, and impacts.
This talk was filmed at the Legacy Art Gallery in Victoria, BC.
