PM calls for snap election on Tuesday 15 October BREAKING: Boris Johnson has called for a general election, saying it is "very sad" MPs have voted to block no-deal Brexit. "There must now be an election on Tuesday 15th October."

He told MPs the house has left no other option but letting the public decide who is prime minister.

He criticised the vote to stop no-deal saying MPs have voted to "stop and scupper any serious negotiations".
